HMRC has apologised for sending out letters to pensioners implying that the pensions would be taxed in 2010/2011
The Director General of Personal Tax at HMRC has written a letter of apology to the Ministry of Defence Permanent under Secretary to update him on the matter of incorrect notices of coding being send out to Armed Forces Disability Pensioners which implied that they would be paying taxes on their pensions in 2010/11. She acknowledged that this should not have been the case, because these pensions are exempt from taxation, and apologises for any concern and distress the incorrect notices caused.
